Schools for Children of the World (Canada)
As you may recall, we received $200 from the York Scarborough Area Council to be used as seed money to help begin a new outreach project. With your support, sales of candy, plants and baking total $1,395. We hope you will be pleased with our choice of Schools for Children of the World as our recipient organization. We will be making our first donation of $1,000 immediately. SCW (Canada) is a volunteer organization currently building schools or renovating existing structures, mainly in Honduras, and attempting to do likewise in Haiti. SCW (Canada) offers fifty percent of the cost of a project, with local and central governments making up the remaining costs. VIllagers must agree to provide labour for the construction. SCW (Canada) strives to keep administrative costs to 4.5%. For more information, go to www.scwcanada.org
